Privacy Policy

Blazify has no analytics, no advertising and no accounts of its own. Nothing about how you use the app is collected, stored or sent anywhere by us. There is no server belonging to this project that holds anything about you.
What stays on your phone
Your library, playlists, listening history, play counts, settings, downloads and cached songs are stored on your device only. Uninstalling the app removes them. We never receive a copy.
What leaves your phone, and why
Blazify plays music from YouTube Music, so using it necessarily involves talking to other services. Each of these is listed below with what it receives.
- YouTube / YouTube Music — required for streaming, search and recommendations. Your requests reach Google's servers as they would in any client, and Google's own privacy policy applies to them.
- Signing in to Google (optional) — if you sign in, the session cookie is kept on your device so your own library and subscriptions can be shown. It is never sent anywhere except back to Google.
- Lyrics providers (optional) — LRCLIB, KuGou, BetterLyrics and similar receive the song title, artist and duration in order to find matching lyrics.
- Song recognition (optional) — if you use it, a short audio fingerprint from your microphone is sent to the recognition service to identify what is playing. Audio is not recorded or kept.
- Last.fm scrobbling (optional, off by default) — if you connect an account, the songs you play are sent to Last.fm.
- Discord rich presence (optional, off by default) — if you connect an account, what you are playing is shown on your Discord profile.
- Blaze Together (optional) — listening rooms run on a third-party server not operated by this project. While you are in a room, the songs you play and the display name you choose are shared with the others in it.
- AI lyric translation (optional, off by default) — only if you supply your own API key. Lyrics are then sent to whichever provider you chose, under their terms.
- Update checks — the app asks GitHub whether a newer release exists. GitHub sees the request. Nothing about you is included. The F-Droid build has this switched off entirely.
Music on your device
If you let Blazify read the music on your phone, it reads audio files to list and play them. That stays on the device. Cover art for a file with none is looked up by title and artist through the same catalogue used for search; the file itself is never uploaded.
Permissions
- Audio files — to find and play music already on your phone. Asked for only when you use that feature.
- Microphone — only while song recognition is running.
- Notifications — to show playback controls.
- Network — to stream and to fetch lyrics and artwork.
Problem reports
Reports are never sent automatically. Settings → About → Report a problem prepares the text, including the app version, your phone model and Android version, and opens your email app or the issue tracker. You see everything before it is sent, and you can edit or cancel it.
Children
Blazify is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the history is public in the project's repository.
